Advantages Of LCD Video Projection
1. What makes the LCD projector assembly very practical is that it is compact, since the LCD chip is very small.
One LCD chip is hundreds of times smaller than the three projection tubes needed in CRT-based rear-projection televisions. This means that LCD-based rear-projection televisions can be made a lot thinner and lighter than traditional CRT-based rear-projection sets. Although you can’t hang it on the wall like you can with an LCD flat panel or Plasma Television, you can still save a lot of floor space, and spend less money than you would buying that stylish LCD flat panel or Plasma set. In addition, since these are projection sets, you can get one in larger screen sizes than you can with either LCD or Plasma flat panel types.
2. Other advantages of rear-projection LCD technology are its high contrast and brightness capability, as well as lower power consumption.
Limitations Of LCD Video Projection
1. A LCD projection television can often times exhibit what is called “the screen door effect”. The screen is made up of indivudual pixels, therefore ey can be seen on a large screen. This gives it the appearence of viewing the image through a screen door.
2.The construction of LCD RPTV may seem simple, however they are still more complex and therefore usually much more expensive than their CRT counterparts.
3. Since an LCD chip is made up of a panel of individual pixels, if one pixel burns out it displays an annoying black or white dot on the projected image. Individual pixels cannot be repaired, if one or more pixels burn out, the entire chip has to be replaced.
4. Since LCD chips have a finite number of pixels, signal inputs that have higher resolutions must be scaled to fit the pixel field count of the particular LCD chip. For example, a typical HDTV input format of 1080i needs a native display of 1920×1080 pixels for a one-to-one display of the HDTV image. However, if your LCD chip only has a pixel field of 1024×768, the original HDTV signal must be scaled to fit the 1024×768 pixel count on the LCD chip (in addition the image will also have to be letterboxed to reproduce the correct widescreen aspect ratio). This is where CRT-based rear-projection sets can excel over an LCD rear-projection set. Since CRTs are not limited by a fixed pixel field, they are more flexible at displaying various resolutions, due to being able to variably scan the image onto the projection tube surface.

In general, LCD projectors are video projectors that are used for displaying images, videos as well as computer data on a screen or other flat surfaces.
LCD projectors are not only used for entertainment purposes but it can also provide a lot of benefits to one’s business. Although LCD projectors are quite expensive, it is not an insignificant investment especially for your company. However, prior to purchasing an LCD projector, you should know that there are different types of projectors.
In general, there are two different types of projectors. These are the LCD projectors and the DLP projectors. However, most businesses today prefer the LCD type of projector because it has a lot of advantages compared to the DLP type.
LCD projectors operate by through rays of light that illuminate the LCD cells. Majority of the LCD projectors use advanced polycrystalline LCDs which have different color panels so that the desired color will be produced. Actually, these screens have superb color saturation with adjustable brightness and contrast. Compared to DLP projectors, the former are brighter and have a broader range of connectivity.
LCD projectors project sharper images compared to DLP projectors. The LCD projectors also vary in resolution, but keep in mind that the higher the resolution, the higher the price. Depending on your needs, you need to select which resolution is appropriate for you. Higher resolutions are needed only if you frequently need fine details to be displayed accurately.
The resolution of a projector actually refers to the number of dots of light that appear on the screen or in a projected image. Projectors of the latest models have higher resolutions that are comparable to that of the laptop computers. Actually, the most common resolution nowadays is the XGA. On the other hand, those who are on a tight budget can purchase a projector with SVGA resolution. This type of resolution is perfect for PowerPoint presentations; however, it is not recommended for presentations that need fine details.
As mentioned earlier, the XGA resolution is the most popular resolution for projectors. XGA projectors can be used for general purposes.
As for the image quality of projectors, four factors affect the image resolution. These factors include contrast, brightness, and the illumination. The technique to get the highest quality of an image is to match it with the resolution of your computer screen.
Aside from the resolution, you should also consider the brightness of the projector. If your projector is to be used in a bigger room, your projector should be brighter. Keep in mind that the level of brightness of your projector depends on the environment where you will be using it.

Thinking about looking into HD projectors, but not sure how to start? When giving advice to anyone who is beginning the process of setting up their own home cinema I use a standard checklist of things to consider. In this article I am going to run through the first steps that you need to take. These steps are not everything you need to think about, but they are important because if you make a mistake with these initial steps then no matter how good you are later at researching matters you will not succeed in getting as good a home cinema experience as you may otherwise have achieved.
Consider the size and shape of the room into which you will be setting up your HD projector and screen. Is there enough room for projector to project a decent sized image onto the screen?
Think about whether the image projected will cross a well used walkway in your home. If so, can you be assured that you will not get interruptions from other members of your family going about their daily lives or tasks?
What is the light like in the room? Even though technological advancements have resulted in HD projectors being less affected by light you should still consider whether if the room is bright the image you will see may be washed out with poor colour and definition contrast. Getting this wrong at this stage can really influence your enjoyment experience.
Are you looking to purchase an HD projector screen? If you are not then you really need to consider what the image you see will look like. Try out a projector before purchasing. Know what you are letting yourself in for. In my experience a projector screen is almost always a good idea, even considering the additional expense.
Get a great sound system. Don’t spend all you money buying the HD projector and screen and overlook the sound system. Effective surround sound will significantly enhance your home cinema experience. Consider this aspect of your home cinema project at the beginning and you can incorporate the sound system into your home modifications. Later you may not have the opportunity.
